Memorial Day Weekend in Whittemore

It will be here before we know it!  Here is the Schedule of Events for "2025 Memorial Day Weekend in Whittemore" as we know it (six months out) ... some events subject to change, but here is a rough draft so you can mark it on the calendar:

     Friday, May 23:
          Construct Legion Hamburger Stand on Broad Street in front of "Pitchers" starting at 3:30 p.m.

     Saturday, May 24:
          Put up Avenue of Flags, set-up Community Center, and decorate soldier's graves at local cemeteries
          St Michael's 5K Spirit Fun Run & Walk (Contact Harry Bormann for info at 712-260-0873
          Ribfest BBQ Contest in Downtown Business District (Contact Ashley Frideres at 515-570-1060)
          Miscellaneous kids fun events such as inflatables, balloon art, etc.
          Street Dance with live music by Keifer & Scottie in Downtown Business District (starting at 7:00)

     Sunday, May 25:
          12:30-"Sunday Funday" events include a Bean Bag Contest, Antique Firetruck Rides, Kids Water
               Fights, & more!  Legion Hall opens at 12:00 noon!  Food truck will be available along with Top of
               Iowa Lucky Wife LLC frozen/slushy cocktails!

          Day #1 - Whittemore Fun Days (aka The Carnival!)
               Amusement rides will start at 3:00 pm with a great selection of fun for all ages and games of
               chance for everyone.
          World-Famous Legion Burgers - serving starts at 3:30.  How many can you eat???
          Root Beer Float Stand by Whittemore Warrior 4-H Club

     Monday, May 26:
          Legion Parade starts at 9:45 a.m. sharp!  From Legion Hall it goes south to Kossuth Street, then one
               block east to Fourth, turning south and marching to the Community Center where the annual
               Memorial Day Program begins at 10:00 a.m.  Ceremonies move outdoors (weather permitting) for
               placing of the wreath and gun salute. At the conclusion of the program, the public is invited to the
               Legion Hall to partake in fellowship and snacks.
          Day #2 - Whittemore Fun Days (last day of the Carnival!)
               Amusement rides start at 3:00 pm
               World-Famous Legion Burgers - serving starts at 4:00.  Your last chance to have them in 2025!

     Tuesday, May 27:
          Tear down Legion Hamburger Stand starting at 8:00 a.m.  All help appreciated!
